About Dr. Drayna
Dr. Paul Drayna is a board-certified ophthalmologist, specializing in diseases of the retina and vitreous. He was born and raised in Monticello, MN, and graduated magna cum laude from Hamline University with degrees in Biology and History. Dr. Drayna received his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, where he graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha honors. He completed an ophthalmology residency in San Antonio within the combined military ophthalmology residency program, where he received multiple awards for research. Dr. Drayna completed a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the University of Minnesota. He served in the US Air Force for 19 years, including a deployment to Afghanistan as a theater ophthalmology consultant. Dr. Drayna spent his last 6 years in San Antonio as Chief of Vitreoretinal Surgery and has extensive experience treating macular degeneration, diabetes, and retinal detachments, as well as more complicated conditions, including eye trauma and secondary intraocular lenses.
Dr. Drayna lives in Edina with his wife and two children. The family are avid Minnesota sports fans. Paul enjoys spending time hiking, playing pickleball, trying new restaurants with his wife, cheering his kids on in their sports, and traveling.
