Dr. Johnston has been on the faculty at the University of Minnesota for 3 years where he was extensively involved in treating complex retinal conditions such as macular degeneration, retinal detachment, diabetes, and eye trauma. He was very involved in resident teaching and was awarded the surgical teacher of the year award in 2005 and the clinical teacher of the year award in 2006.
Dr. Johnston founded Edina Retina Consultants in 2006. His goal was to create a very high-quality retina practice in the Edina area where patients could be seen and receive the highest possible care in a pleasant and cordial atmosphere.
Dr. Johnston lives in Edina with his wife and 2 children, who attend the Normandale Elementary School. His outside interests include curling, skiing, golf, and swimming.
